INSTRUCTIONS TO RETURN
Instructions to Return explores the limitations of language in attempting to guide access to unreachable places and experiences. Presented through letterpress printed instructional text, the work adopts the visual authority of functional directions while gradually breaking down into ambiguity and uncertainty. As the instructions become increasingly impossible to follow, the project highlights the instability of memory and the impossibility of fully returning to a past experience. Through typography, repetition, and material process, the work questions whether language can ever truly communicate emotional or psychological distance.
